Andreas Seidl hesitant about Audi’s pursuit of Newey for F1 project

Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull Racing, has been a key figure in Formula 1 for almost 20 years. He has been responsible for designing championship-winning cars. However, recent speculations suggest that he may be leaving the team. Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl has remained silent on the possibility of Audi hiring Newey. Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Mercedes are also rumored to be interested in his services. Another potential option for Newey could be Audi’s new F1 operation, which will take over Sauber in 2026. This would give him the opportunity to replicate his success with Red Bull and help a rising team achieve championship glory. Seidl has not ruled out the possibility of pursuing Newey, emphasizing the importance of building a strong team rather than relying solely on an individual. On the other hand, Red Bull has stated that they are not aware of any potential options Newey may be considering. Reports suggest that Newey may not be looking for a full-time technical role in his next move, with Ferrari considering a unique “super consultant” position for him.
