SHOCKING REVELATION: Untelevised Team Radio Exposes the Tension After Verstappen’s Apology!

In a stunning turn of events following the thrilling conclusion of the F1 2025 season, untelevised team radio from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has surfaced, unveiling the intense moment when Andrea Kimi Antonelli sought clarity on Max Verstappen’s defeat in the championship race. This revelation comes hot on the heels of Antonelli’s heartfelt apology to Verstappen for a critical error in the previous race that inadvertently bolstered Lando Norris’s championship bid.

Last weekend, McLaren’s Lando Norris clinched his first-ever Formula 1 title in a nail-biting finish, securing third place behind Verstappen, who took the victory, and Oscar Piastri, who finished second. The stakes were sky-high, and despite Verstappen’s impressive performance throughout the season—including eight race victories—he narrowly missed out on the title, falling short by a mere two points to Norris after a season marked by Verstappen’s unparalleled dominance with four consecutive championships from 2021 to 2024.

The drama unfolded at the Yas Marina Circuit, where Antonelli, a rising star and Mercedes driver, faced a wave of online backlash, including death threats, after his blunder in Qatar allowed Norris to snag two vital points. Those points ultimately proved to be the difference-maker in the title race, amplifying the stakes of his mistake.

In an unprecedented display of sportsmanship, Antonelli approached Verstappen post-race to express his remorse. “Sorry about last week,” he said, sharing an embrace with the Red Bull driver, who graciously responded, “Mate, don’t [apologise]. It’s all good. It’s all good.” This exchange showcased the camaraderie that exists even amidst fierce competition.

The newly surfaced team radio highlights Antonelli’s eagerness to understand the final details of the championship standings. As his race engineer, Peter Bonnington, confirmed Verstappen’s victory alongside Piastri and Norris, he also revealed that George Russell’s fifth-place finish secured Mercedes a solid second in the constructors’ championship. When Antonelli inquired about the championship margin, Bonnington initially misunderstood, referencing Norris’s lead over Charles Leclerc instead.

“By how many points?” Antonelli pressed, and the response was clear: “Just the two points.” Antonelli’s silence spoke volumes, reflecting the weight of the moment and the implications of his earlier mistake.

In a further twist, Antonelli disclosed that Verstappen reached out to him with a supportive message following the online vitriol he faced. “He saw what happened,” Antonelli recounted. “He wasn’t bothered by anything. He even showed support, so really nice from him. He just said: ‘Don’t worry about these kinds of people, because they’re brainless. So, just focus on the job.’”

As the dust settles on a tumultuous season, the fallout from Antonelli’s blunder and the dramatic conclusion to the title race will linger in the minds of fans and competitors alike. With the unexpected twists of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, one thing is certain: the world of Formula 1 is never short of surprises, rivalries, and moments that define careers. Stay tuned for more developments as the racing world reflects on this unforgettable season!
