The 2025 Cup Series season kicked off with an unexpected yet exciting collaboration that had the NASCAR world buzzing. As JR Motorsports ascended to the prime league, it made its debut at the iconic Daytona International Speedway. This milestone was made all the more special by a partnership with Traveller Whiskey, a brand owned by renowned country music artist Chris Stapleton. This alliance allowed Justin Allgaier, the reigning Xfinity Series champion, to participate in the revered ‘The Great American Race.’ And the collaboration did not disappoint.

Fans crowded the legendary track, merchandise sales skyrocketed, and brand visibility was through the roof. The event exceeded all expectations, making this a debut to remember. Now, it appears that Traveller Whiskey, a product of the Kentucky-based Buffalo Trace Distillery held by the Sazerac company, is eager to deepen its involvement in the exhilarating world of NASCAR.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., owner of JR Motorsports, couldn’t have dreamt of a better outcome. The partnership was more than just a mere sponsorship deal. With the Traveller Whiskey logo prominently displayed on the No. 40 Chevy, driven by Justin Allgaier, fans couldn’t get enough. Allgaier’s merchandise flew off the shelves, even outdoing popular drivers like Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

Andrew Duncan, Sazerac’s global brand director for American whiskey, was tight-lipped about the specific figures but did disclose that the return on investment from the NASCAR deal was beyond the company’s projections. The brand saw a surge in popularity and fan engagement, with supporters even bringing Traveller bottles for autographs at pre-race events.

According to JR Motorsports, the merchandise sales from the Traveller Program were so successful that Allgaier remains the top Cup Series driver on NASCAR’s official website, despite the Daytona 500 being his sole race. Furthermore, Traveller’s diecast model cars, produced in collaboration with Lionel Racing, the sport’s official licensee, are expected to be among the top five this year.

Grammy-award winner Chris Stapleton’s estimated net worth of $25 million added a touch of glamour to the collaboration. His partnership with Buffalo Trace Distillery not only boosted the brand’s image but also made significant inroads into the NASCAR market. Andrew Duncan confirmed this, stating, “We’ve seen enough positive fan response from NASCAR to tell us that the NASCAR fan likes what Traveller Whiskey stands for.”

Despite Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s retirement from full-time racing in 2017, he remains a fan favorite. His fans rallied behind Allgaier during the Daytona 500, and they continue to express their desire for a continuation of the JR Motorsports and Traveller Whiskey partnership.

The No. 40 Chevy, with its cream base color and orange outlines, was a sight to behold at the Daytona 500. The car’s design, reminiscent of the elegant whiskey bottle designed by Chris Stapleton, received high praise from fans. The general consensus among fans was that while NASCAR might be a risky venture for large corporations like FedEx, it could be a golden opportunity for lesser-known brands like Traveller Whiskey to establish themselves.

There’s a buzz among fans that Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s team might join forces with the whiskey brand for another high-profile event this year, considering the success of their previous collaboration. Speculations are rife about Allgaier’s participation in the Coca-Cola 600. While there’s no official confirmation yet, fans are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping to see the No. 40 Chevy make another grand appearance.
