After allegations against Ben Sulayem of interfering in actions during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2023, a thorough investigation was conducted by the Federation’s Ethics Committee. The committee found no evidence of any improper conduct by Ben Sulayem, who, according to the findings, demonstrated “full cooperation, transparency, and compliance throughout the process, greatly appreciated during this investigation.”
After interviewing 11 witnesses about the races held last year, the Ethics Committee investigators concluded that the accusations against the FIA President were unfounded, and compelling evidence was presented to support the determination of the FIA Ethics Committee.
This result raised doubts among certain segments of the biased mainstream F1 media. Ben Sulayem subsequently warned member clubs, pointing out that these events unfolded with the clear intention of targeting the core of his leadership and undermining the foundations of his federation.
This implies the involvement of an external entity in the F1 paddock, with the aim of weakening the FIA and its Chief, amid a power struggle between them and the F1 teams aligned with the FOM, who are actively lobbying to undermine the F1 regulatory body.
However, any skepticism regarding the support Ben Sulayem enjoys within the organization he leads was dispelled today by a demonstration of unity and support from the FIA Member Clubs and Sports Federations of America. They expressed unwavering support for their President in a letter published on the Federation’s website, signed by 34 club heads of the FIA.
