Alpino reveals Sanchez as head of the F1 technical division.

Alpine announces the appointment of David Sanchez as the new Executive Technical Director for its Formula 1 team. Sanchez recently left McLaren under unexpected circumstances. McLaren hired him to join their technical group, but after just three months, he left due to a disagreement about his responsibilities. Taking advantage of the situation, Alpine has now recruited Sanchez to oversee its own revised technical structure. This decision comes in response to the team’s poor start to the season. Sanchez will be responsible for supervising the Performance, Engineering, and Aerodynamics departments, reporting directly to team principal Bruno Famin. Famin expressed his excitement in welcoming Sanchez back to Enstone, where he began his career in 2005. This appointment is crucial to optimizing the team’s performance and focusing on areas that need improvement. The team acknowledges that the performance and development of their car have not met their expectations and are determined to achieve success with Sanchez’s help. The team’s former Technical Director, Matt Harman, and Aerodynamicist, Dirk de Beer, both resigned after the first race of the season in Bahrain. Alpine’s decision to overhaul the concept of their car for 2024 resulted in a car that is overweight and non-competitive, failing to score points so far.
