Another Disastrous Performance by Colapinto : P19 in sprint qualifying. Gasly shines in 8th.
An eventful Friday for Enstone’s team, with Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto failing to keep pace with his teammate once again. Overall, it was a mixed bag of results for Alpine at Spa with Pierre Gasly having a fantastic 8th place Sprint Qualifying run, giving him a shot at scoring some championship points. Meanwhile, disappointment loomed for Colapinto after finishing an abysmal P19 and failing to capitalize on some surprising eliminations.
Colapinto indicated that he struggled with the car balance and grip but has faced challenges with the limited practice sessions. Gasly, in a much better mood, relayed that he was able to adjust his strategy to maximize his speed on the straights, even if he sacrificed performance in other parts of the track. His successful qualification for the Sprint race is promising for what will became a battle for points.
As we approach the difficult Spa circuit, particular uncertainty surrounds the weather as it may add to the complexity of the demanding track in which the drivers will be racing in. Gasly was optimistic and Colapinto is clearly resolute, setting up what may be entertaining race days with both drivers looking to leave a mark and putting forth a good showing.
