VIDEO – Jack Doohan’s Terrifying Suzuka Crash Shakes F1 World in FP2 Drama

Australian Driver Survives Terrifying 185 mph Crash in Japanese GP Practice as Piastri Dominates Second Session

In a heart-stopping turn of events at the Japanese Grand Prix, Jack Doohan miraculously walked away from a harrowing high-speed crash during the second practice session while Oscar Piastri claimed the top spot on the leaderboard.

Doohan’s Alpine car spun out of control at an astonishing 205 miles per hour at Turn 1, careening through gravel and smashing into the barriers with brutal force. Despite the severity of the crash, the resilient Australian driver radioed in to confirm his safety, but the session was red-flagged for almost 25 minutes to repair the damaged barriers.

As the session resumed, it was Piastri who seized the opportunity to shine, setting the fastest lap time of 1m 28.114s and outpacing his teammate Lando Norris by a mere 0.049s. The session, however, was marred by multiple stoppages, including one caused by Fernando Alonso’s spin into the gravel trap, ending his day stranded in the stones.

The disrupted session saw limited track time for the drivers, with only 21 minutes of green-flag running spread over four intervals. Despite the challenges, Lewis Hamilton managed to secure the fourth position, closely followed by Liam Lawson in the Racing Bulls car.

Max Verstappen, who voiced concerns about his car’s handling, landed in eighth place behind Charles Leclerc and George Russell. The intense competition on the track was further heightened by Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, and Alex Albon rounding up the top 10 positions.

The Japanese GP practice was a rollercoaster of adrenaline-fueled moments, from Doohan’s miraculous escape to Piastri’s stellar performance under pressure. With the drivers pushing the limits on the iconic Suzuka circuit, fans were treated to a spectacle of skill, speed, and sheer determination.

As the teams gear up for the upcoming race day, the stage is set for a thrilling showdown in Japan, where every second on the track counts towards securing vital points in the championship standings.
