Alpine’s daring gamble: reserve drivers Paul Aron and Kush Maini take center stage in Abu Dhabi FP1

Alpine F1 Team Turns the Page: Reserve Drivers Set to Shine in Abu Dhabi FP1!

In a stunning twist of fate, the Alpine F1 Team is poised to shake things up in their last hurrah of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As the team grapples with a dismal position in the Constructors’ Championship—sitting at the very bottom—the stakes have never been higher. This race at Yas Marina not only marks the end of a challenging chapter but also signals a significant shift as Alpine prepares to bid adieu to Renault power units, welcoming Mercedes engines next season!

With the spotlight on Alpine’s reserve drivers, the excitement is palpable as they gear up for the first free practice session. Pierre Gasly, the only Alpine driver to have breached the top 10 this season, will hand over the reins of his car to the promising Paul Aron. This will be Aron’s third appearance in free practice this season and his enthusiasm is infectious. “I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the A525 this weekend in Abu Dhabi,” Aron declared. “The positive performances in Monza and Mexico have been crucial for my growth as a driver. I’m thankful to the team for this opportunity and I aim to contribute to our success this weekend.”

But that’s not all—joining Aron in the Alpine garage will be 25-year-old Kush Maini, a test driver and rookie in free practice sessions. Maini, who is gearing up for his very first FP1 experience, is eager to make an impression. “I’m excited to participate in the post-season Young Driver Test here in Abu Dhabi and to experience the A525 for the first time,” he remarked. “Having raced at Yas Marina in Formula 2, I am keen to see how the F1 cars perform on this track. I appreciate the team for entrusting me with this role and I’ll strive to deliver my best!”

As the clock ticks down to the final race weekend, Alpine is not just racing against time but also battling the shadows of a tumultuous season. They are determined to close this chapter with a flourish, hoping to salvage points and pride. The team’s journey has been fraught with challenges, but with new faces ready to seize the moment, fans can expect an electrifying race in Abu Dhabi. Stay tuned as Alpine aims to finish strong and set the stage for a new era in Formula 1!
