Alpine unveils a daring and innovative A524 model.

Alpine has unveiled a fresh and innovative A524, aiming to bounce back from a disappointing sixth place finish in the Formula 1 constructors’ championship last season. Alongside the new car, Alpine also showcased the A424 hypercar that will compete in the World Endurance Championship. While the WEC car boasts a striking livery, the Formula 1 car has a more stripped-back design, featuring extensive carbon fiber and blue and pink accents.

In addition to the visually impactful livery, the new Alpine car is significantly different from its predecessor. According to technical director Matt Harmon, only the steering wheel remains the same compared to the 2023 model. Harmon explained that the team embarked on a comprehensive evaluation of their performance after the A523 failed to meet expectations. This introspective process began in week 45 of 2022 and intensified after the initial races of 2023.

Taking a bold approach, Alpine developed a completely new car, leaving no area untouched. Harmon emphasized the team’s commitment to unlocking the car’s full potential throughout the season. While the A523 reached a plateau, the A524 offers greater possibilities for success.

Team principal Bruno Famin attributed this new approach to the frustrations of the previous year, when Alpine finished a distant sixth in the standings. Famin highlighted the team’s self-criticism and the subsequent identification of challenges and solutions. Energized by the progress made in 2023, Famin emphasized the need to generalize these improvements across the entire team.

Since assuming the role of team principal in mid-2023, Famin focused on elevating the track team’s performance. While acknowledging the team’s interesting progress, Famin stressed the importance of continuous improvement throughout the entire organization. This commitment to improvement will be Famin’s top priority as team principal and VP of Alpine Motorsports.
