French sports car manufacturer Alpine has purchased a minority stake in its long-time Hypercar service provider, Signatech, securing long-term financial stability for the team while allowing it to continue operating independently. This strategic move underscores Alpine’s commitment to remaining a significant player in sports car racing with the ultimate goal of winning the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours in the current era.
A Partnership Rooted in Success
The partnership between Alpine and Signatech began in 2013, when the two joined forces for an LMP2 class campaign in the European Le Mans Series. Since then, the collaboration has flourished, with Signatech guiding Alpine to multiple ELMS and FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) LMP2 titles, three LMP2 class wins at Le Mans, and two overall FIA WEC victories in the early stages of the Hypercar class. This success has culminated in Signatech’s current two-car flagship effort for Alpine in the WEC.
Philippe Sinault, Signatech’s team principal, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “Alpine is my partner now, and it’s a good signal for the program. It gives stability to our program. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve been able to look a minimum of four to five years ahead. That’s why this is fantastic.”
A Vision for the Future of Alpine and Signatech
With Alpine now a part-owner of Signatech, both organizations are looking toward a future filled with ambitious goals. Bruno Famin, vice president of Alpine Motorsport, has highlighted that there is “no limit” on the current program, indicating that this partnership will allow them to continue pushing the boundaries of what they can achieve together in endurance racing.
Sinault affirmed that the team’s focus remains squarely on the WEC, with the ultimate goal of winning the Le Mans 24 Hours. “We are really focused on WEC. This project is so huge, and each morning my staff only wake up to win Le Mans. That’s our game, and we have no other involvement now in any other programs,” Sinault said.
Securing a Legacy in Sports Car Racing
The minority stake purchase not only solidifies Alpine’s commitment to sports car racing but also provides Signatech with the financial stability and backing needed to maintain its competitive edge. The move allows both organizations to continue their pursuit of excellence at the highest level of endurance racing, with Alpine’s ultimate aim of capturing overall victory at Le Mans.
As Alpine and Signatech look ahead to this new chapter, their partnership serves as a testament to the success that can be achieved when a shared vision and unwavering dedication drive the pursuit of motorsport greatness. With a firm eye on future achievements, Alpine and Signatech are poised to remain key contenders in the fiercely competitive world of sports car racing for years to come.
