Alpine’s Controversial F1 Driver Swap Sparks Outrage from Esteban Ocon

In a shocking turn of events, former Alpine driver Esteban Ocon has publicly criticized the team for their decision to demote Jack Doohan back to a reserve driver role after just six races into the 2025 Formula 1 season. The abrupt move saw Doohan replaced by Franco Colapinto, leaving many questioning Alpine’s managerial tactics and treatment of their drivers.

Ocon, who had willingly given up his race seat to participate in post-season testing with Haas, expressed his dismay at the situation, stating, “That’s always quite surprising to see, for sure. If I look at it from Jack’s standpoint, over five races I think he showed decent speed, he showed things that mean he deserves at least to show a little bit more.”

The French driver continued to highlight the impact such decisions can have on a driver’s career, emphasizing the dedication and hard work that goes into reaching Formula 1. Ocon’s remarks shed light on the ruthless nature of the sport and the challenges faced by drivers in securing and maintaining their positions on the grid.

Alpine’s handling of their driver lineup has come under intense scrutiny, with frequent changes in team principals, technical directors, and senior staff adding to the instability within the team. Ocon’s comments serve as a reminder of the cutthroat environment in Formula 1, where talent alone may not always be enough to secure a long-term spot in the highly competitive field.

The controversy surrounding Jack Doohan’s demotion has reignited discussions about the ethics and fairness of driver decisions in Formula 1, prompting fans and experts alike to question the motives behind Alpine’s sudden driver swap. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on how the team navigates the aftermath of this controversial move and the impact it may have on the drivers involved.

Esteban Ocon’s bold statements have sparked a debate within the F1 community, raising important questions about the treatment of drivers and the future of young talents in the sport. As the drama unfolds, one thing remains clear – the world of Formula 1 is as unpredictable and unforgiving as ever.
