Alpine Endurance Team Reinforces Leadership with Nicolas Lapierre as Sporting Director for 2025

The Alpine Endurance Team has taken a major step forward in bolstering its management by appointing seasoned driver Nicolas Lapierre as the team’s new Sporting Director. Starting from January 1, 2025, Lapierre will officially assume his new responsibilities, using his extensive experience and deep understanding of endurance racing to improve the team’s overall performance. This move is part of Alpine’s strategy to strengthen its organization as it continues its ambitious push in the world of endurance racing.

Lapierre, who recently concluded his illustrious professional racing career with a podium finish at Fuji, will work closely with Team Principal Philippe Sinault to drive the team to new heights. However, Lapierre won’t wait until 2025 to get involved in his new role, as he will begin familiarizing himself with the position during the 2024 season finale in Bahrain.

Jules Gounon has been called up to complete the Alpine Endurance Team’s lineup for the final race of the 2024 season, allowing Lapierre to focus on his transition from the driver’s seat to a leadership role.

Nicolas Lapierre’s Transition to Leadership

Lapierre’s journey with Alpine has been nothing short of remarkable. He was instrumental in developing the Alpine A424, marking the start of a new era for the team. In his new role, Lapierre will be tasked with bridging the gap between the drivers and technical teams, using his vast knowledge from years of racing to improve coordination and performance. Speaking on his new position, Lapierre expressed his excitement:

“Alpine has always shown a tremendous amount of confidence in me, not least by giving me the chance to develop the A424 and then start this first season behind the wheel. After expressing the wish to end my career as a professional driver, I am delighted to confirm that I am continuing the adventure with the team, but this time on the other side of the pit wall.”

He added that he believes strongly in the Alpine project and looks forward to contributing to the team’s next steps.

Team Principal Philippe Sinault on Lapierre’s New Role

Philippe Sinault, who has worked closely with Lapierre throughout their successful partnership, emphasized that this appointment is a natural progression for the team:

“We have been discussing this prospect together for several months now. Apart from our mutual desire, it represents a logical and natural continuation of the prosperous collaboration we have shared over the last few years, particularly under the Alpine colours.”

Sinault highlighted the importance of their long-standing relationship, which has been built on mutual trust and a shared vision for the team’s future.

Alpine Motorsports VP Bruno Famin Welcomes Lapierre’s Move

Bruno Famin, VP of Alpine Motorsports, echoed the sentiment, acknowledging Lapierre’s invaluable contributions both on and off the track:

“Nicolas Lapierre is part of the Alpine family. In addition to his proven qualities as a driver and human being, he has gained a wealth of experience outside the car in recent years. Together with Philippe, it was clear to us that Nicolas could naturally bring a great deal to the team through his Sporting Director role, and we are genuinely delighted that Nicolas has accepted.”

Famin believes Lapierre will play a pivotal role in propelling Alpine to even greater success, especially as the team continues its push in the hyper-competitive world of endurance racing.

With Lapierre stepping into his new role, Alpine Endurance Team is well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory, aiming to secure more podium finishes and further solidify its position as a key player in endurance racing.
