Alpine's Thrilling Comeback: Gasly and Colapinto Storm Into Points at the Chinese Grand Prix!

In a sensational turn of events at the Chinese Grand Prix, Alpine Racing has broken its points drought in spectacular fashion, with both Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto clinching coveted top-ten finishes! This marks a triumphant return for the French team, echoing echoes of their last dual points finish back in the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly delivered a stellar performance, crossing the finish line in sixth place, while the Argentine rising star, Franco Colapinto, made his mark by finishing in tenth. This dynamic duo's achievement ignites hope and excitement for Alpine fans, as they witness both drivers return to the points in a single race for the first time!

Colapinto, who stepped in for Jack Doohan at the Emilia-Romagna GP last year, hasn't tasted points since his time with Williams in the 2024 USA GP. His return to the top ten with Alpine is nothing short of exhilarating. Reflecting on his performance, Colapinto expressed mixed emotions: “What a race and what a fantastic day for the team! I’m thrilled to have scored my first points for Alpine, but there’s a hint of frustration—I wanted more. Some things didn’t go our way today, but returning to points is a great milestone, which bodes well for the upcoming races.”

The race was electrifying from the start, with both drivers executing impressive maneuvers. Colapinto recounted, “We made an incredible start, gaining several positions. We were comfortably in fifth and sixth before the Safety Car came out, neutralizing the pack. It was a strategic moment that kept everyone on hard tires, myself included.” However, the drama didn't end there. Colapinto faced a setback as Esteban Ocon collided with him during the pit exit, leading to a 10-second penalty for Ocon. “He apologized afterward, and it was all good, but we lost some downforce due to damage, and we didn’t have enough pace to catch Carlos [Sainz] at the end. Extra points were literally within our grasp!”

Gasly, too, had his share of intense battles after the Safety Car's deployment, showcasing his prowess on the track. Although he fought valiantly, he couldn't quite reach Oliver Bearman, finishing just shy of fifth place. “It was a solid result for the team today, and an overall strong weekend with both cars in the points. I’m pleased with the outcome, but as a driver, I can’t help but feel a bit annoyed for not snatching that fifth place, which I believe was within reach,” Gasly stated.

The duo's thrilling race showcased not just their individual skills but also an impressive team effort. As Colapinto lauded Gasly’s performance, he emphasized the solid teamwork and fierce on-track battles that made the race unforgettable. “With these new cars, it was only a matter of time before we saw the Safety Car. When it did come out, I was prepared, but I faced a power issue at the restart, allowing Ollie to pass. I fought hard, pushing every lap as if it were qualifying, which was exhilarating. Though I couldn’t get close enough to attempt a pass, it was still a fantastic result, and there’s plenty of room for improvement. I hope to maintain the rhythm we showed this weekend in the upcoming races!”

With both drivers showing promise and the team delivering a strong performance, Alpine is undoubtedly on the rise. Fans are left buzzing with anticipation as they look forward to what the next Grand Prix will bring. Will this newfound momentum carry Alpine to even greater heights? Only time will tell!
