Alonso predicts fewer opportunities for Red Bull’s competitors to secure victory in 2024.

Alonso prevê menos oportunidades para os concorrentes da Red Bull garantirem vitória em 2024.

The chances of Fernando Alonso securing a Formula 1 victory last year were frustrated by the dominant performance of Red Bull and Max Verstappen. According to Alonso, the reigning champions have made significant advancements, which will result in even fewer opportunities for their rivals to win races in 2024. Red Bull has been unstoppable since the reintroduction of ground effect cars in 2022, winning 21 out of the 22 races held last season. Although Aston Martin initially posed a challenge to Red Bull, Alonso’s hopes of victory were thwarted by Verstappen’s dominance. Despite improvements made by his own team, Alonso is concerned that Red Bull’s progress will overshadow their competitors. The unexpected innovations introduced by Red Bull with their challenger RB20 further solidify Alonso’s belief that they will remain untouchable at the front. This leaves little room for Sergio Perez or any other driver to surpass Verstappen’s dominance. Alonso admits that he cannot predict the strategies of other teams, but acknowledges that Red Bull and Verstappen are currently dominating the sport. He believes that 19 drivers in the paddock will have no chance of winning the championship, as that is the nature of the brutal sport. Although Red Bull did not achieve a clean sweep in Singapore due to setup issues, Alonso is convinced that their efforts to improve low-speed performance are detrimental to their competitors. When assessing Aston Martin’s prospects for race victories with the AMR24, Alonso suggests that the chances for all drivers to win this year are diminished given Verstappen and Red Bull’s impressive performance. Despite being in his 21st season and reaching the peak of his physical form, Alonso recognizes that individual achievements do not guarantee competitive results on the track.
