Fernando Alonso, from Aston Martin, has decided to motivate the new generation of Spain before the next Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, organizing a series of workshops focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). These workshops took place in Alonso’s hometown, Oviedo, Asturias, at the Fernando Alonso Museum and Circuit. The two-time F1 champion, along with Spanish ambassador Pedro de la Rosa, worked together to offer STEM activities and karting sessions to 30 lucky students. Aston Martin and their fuel partner, Aramco, have previously collaborated on similar STEM/karting sessions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Shanghai, China. Aramco’s Manager of Marketing, Partnerships, and Sponsorships, Rania Biltagi, expressed her belief in using sports as a platform to drive innovation, create opportunities, improve lives, and positively impact society. They hope to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, sports fans, and race drivers through these events. Alonso, who is highly respected in Spain for his impressive achievements in F1, was thrilled to host the event in his hometown. He emphasized the growing popularity of motorsport in Spain and expressed his desire to see more Spanish talents reach the highest level of racing. Alonso praised Aramco’s passion for this subject and commended the fantastic program that helps students in various STEM disciplines. He felt honored to host the event at his hometown and museum as it helps engage aspiring individuals in their chosen disciplines and increases interest in racing, leaving a lasting impact on the region and the country. Alonso is now preparing for his home race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after finishing sixth in Montreal, Canada. Currently, he holds the ninth position in the drivers’ standings with 41 points.
