Alonso concorda com novo contrato com a Aston Martin F1, pronto para se juntar novamente à Honda.

Formula 1 champion, Fernando Alonso has agreed to extend his contract with Aston Martin for another two seasons. This means he will continue to be part of the team when they join forces with Honda for the new F1 regulations in 2026. Alonso’s move to Aston Martin from Alpine in 2023 was unexpected, but it was known that he had the option to leave at the end of this year. There were doubts about his future with the team, as there were other possible suitors and the possibility of retirement. However, the 42-year-old driver has decided to stay with Aston Martin, despite not having achieved a victory with them yet. This commitment ensures that Alonso will still be competing in F1 at the age of 44-45 in 2026. The announcement was made with a brief quote from Alonso, stating “I’m here to stay,” reminiscent of basketball legend Michael Jordan’s return to the NBA after playing baseball. Alonso will provide more details about his decision later today. Aston Martin team boss, Mike Krack, expressed his excitement in securing Alonso’s long-term future with the team and mentioned the partnership they will have with Honda in 2026. This is significant because Alonso’s previous relationship with Honda was difficult during his time at McLaren. The team’s lineup now seems to be finalized, with Lance Stroll occupying the other seat. Stroll, who is the son of Aston’s co-owner and chairman, Lawrence, has never faced significant pressure to maintain his position.
