In the last year of Alfa Romeo/Sauber in Formula 1, the team finished in ninth and second-to-last place in the Constructors’ Championship with only 16 points. It was a challenging year for the structure and for drivers Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas, after promising indications in the Bahrain GP that kicked off the season.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi, team representative, admitted in an interview with RacingNews365.com that the performance was far from satisfactory: ‘I am disappointed with this year’s result because I do not believe it reflects our potential. It also does not correspond to our ambitions or season goals. The disappointment is shared by the entire team, and I am not pointing fingers at anyone.’
In fact, the leader took responsibility, considering that Alfa Romeo should have been at a level more similar to where it ended up last year: ‘I am responsible, and we should have done a better job as a team. For me, the realistic image of our potential was the last part of the 2022 season when we were fighting between seventh and eighth.’
