Guenther Steiner warns Cadillac F1 against Alex Palou’s inclusion in their lineup

In a shocking turn of events, the racing world is abuzz with the news of why Alex Palou, the 2025 Indy 500 winner, is not on Cadillac F1’s radar. Guenther Steiner, the former Haas F1 team principal, has made bold statements shedding light on why Palou might not be the right fit for the incoming F1 powerhouse.

As Cadillac F1 gears up to make its debut in the 2026 season, speculations have been rife about who will be behind the wheel for the team. Names like Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu have been thrown into the mix, with Palou being the latest addition to the list of potential drivers.

Despite Palou’s impressive track record, including being a three-time IndyCar champion and securing a victory at the prestigious Indy 500, Steiner believes that the Spanish driver may not align with Cadillac F1’s strategy for success. Drawing from his experience with Haas F1, Steiner emphasizes the importance of having seasoned F1 drivers when building a new team from the ground up.

Steiner argues that inexperienced drivers like Palou may not be able to perform to their full potential when the team is still in its developmental stages. He stresses the significance of focusing on team development in the initial years of a new F1 outfit, suggesting that nurturing rookie drivers could detract from this crucial process.

While fans have been eager to see Palou make the leap to F1, the driver himself has acknowledged that the timing may not be right. Expressing his desire to compete for wins and championships, Palou hints at his reluctance to join a team that may not offer him the competitive edge he seeks.

As the F1 community awaits Cadillac F1’s official driver lineup, the debate around Alex Palou’s potential role in the team continues to divide opinions. Will the Spanish sensation defy Steiner’s reservations and secure a coveted spot with Cadillac F1, or will the team opt for a more seasoned contender to lead their charge into the world of Formula 1? Only time will tell in this high-octane saga of speed, skill, and strategy.
