Albon: Williams espera por melhorias para resolver problemas do carro de 2024 da Fórmula 1.

Alexander Albon, Williams Racing driver, acknowledged that the team is facing challenges with their 2024 Formula 1 car and that there is no quick fix. They are eager for updates to increase their chances of success. Unfortunately, Williams’ disappointing start to the season continued in China, with Albon finishing in 12th place and Logan Sargeant coming in as the last classified in 17th place.

Albon was close to the top 10 towards the end of the race, but couldn’t overtake Esteban Ocon’s Alpine and make a move on Nico Hulkenberg’s Haas. One of the main issues Williams has been struggling with this season is excessive tire degradation. Albon described the situation in Shanghai as “challenging” and emphasized that this was the most diplomatic way to put it.

He also pointed out that Pirelli increased the minimum tire pressures, causing them to wear out quickly. Albon expressed his frustration, stating that the tires felt good for only a few corners before deteriorating rapidly. To deal with this, Williams had to adjust the angle of the front wing on both cars. However, the high angle was causing excessive tire wear, which Albon described as painful, but recognized that it affected all teams equally.

Despite making improvements to their car concept compared to last season, Williams was unable to capitalize on their progress. They finished seventh in the Constructors’ Championship with 28 points. Albon admitted that, although they have addressed some long-standing weaknesses, there are still other issues that need to be resolved. He mentioned that they didn’t have the pace to overtake Ocon in the recent race and that the team understands the problems they are facing. However, these issues cannot be solved immediately and will require several upgrades to improve their performance.

Looking ahead to the next race in Miami, Albon expressed optimism that the team’s car will be more suited to the track. He is hoping for a better result and believes that, with the right upgrades, Williams can progress in their performance.
