Williams had a challenging qualifying session, resulting in the elimination of both cars in Q1 and starting from the back row of the grid. In an attempt to maximize their performance in the race and have new parts for future races, the team decided to change Albon’s power unit components. The Stewards deemed this replacement unauthorized and as a result, car number 23 must start the race from the pitlane. This promotion moves Logan Sargeant to 19th place, while Albon’s grid slot will remain vacant and he will start in his original qualifying position, last. Williams, who has only scored two points so far this season, is struggling in Barcelona and is considered one of the slowest teams on the track. Despite the disappointing performance in qualifying, Albon expressed satisfaction with the balance of his car during the session.
