Ahmad Al Harthy, driver of the WRT BMW M4 team, car number 46, was pleasantly surprised to secure a position near the front of the LMGT3 field for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 11. In an interview, Al Harthy acknowledged the challenges posed by track temperatures and emphasized the importance of tire management. He recognized the need to balance endurance with race-like performance to secure victory. Al Harthy also highlighted the importance of teamwork and strategic planning to achieve success. He expressed hope for a clean race, emphasizing the importance of getting everything right throughout the six-hour event, as victory cannot be determined in the first corner. The Spa-Francorchamps circuit, hosting the third round of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship calendar, presents a significant change from the previous venue in Imola. Qualifying required drivers to make their laps count, as they were limited to one or two flying laps in search of pole position. Al Harthy’s lap time of 2:21.138 placed him just four tenths of a second off Sarah Bovy’s pole position. Consequently, car #46 will start on the front row for the six-hour race. Al Harthy, alongside his teammates Maxime Martin and Valentino Rossi, aims to achieve another podium. However, they face strong competition from the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 Iron Dames and the Porsche 911 GT3.R Manthey EMA, represented by cars #85 and #91, respectively.
