Newey is set to embark on a fresh mission next month, not only to design the inaugural car for the new technical era commencing in 2026, but to aid Aston Martin in their pursuit of becoming F1 race champions and title contenders. Despite his primary focus being the 2026 car, the 66-year-old is expected to offer valuable insights regarding Aston Martin’s newly launched AMR25.
The AMR25 is Aston Martin’s 2025 Formula 1 vehicle, unveiled recently during a virtual launch. This car marks a significant departure from its predecessor, having undergone a comprehensive redesign. Andy Cowell, Aston Martin’s team principal, expressed his excitement over Newey’s arrival, describing it as “just brilliant.”

The AMR25 was put to the test by Aston Martin’s 2025 F1 drivers, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, during a filming day. The vehicle, which has seen massive alterations including a “significant evolution” of the front wing and visually striking sidepod redesigns, also boasts a modified floor synergized with the bodywork and new brake ducts at the front and rear. Pre-season testing is set to kick off at the Bahrain International Circuit on Wednesday and will wrap up on Friday.
