Adrian Newey’s replacement not ‘annoyed’ by press only praising the aerodynamics expert for Red Bull’s achievements

Adrian Newey, a renowned figure in the world of Formula 1, has played a significant role in Red Bull’s dominance during the ground-effect era. However, Newey has recently announced his immediate departure from Milton Keynes, leaving behind a void that needs to be filled before the next season. Despite this, his successor remains unfazed by the credit given to Newey for Red Bull’s success.

Following Newey’s exit from the team, Red Bull faced struggles in the 2024 season, leading many to believe that his departure was the cause. However, Pierre Wache, a key figure in the team, expressed that his frustrations were not centered around the credit for the team’s success. He emphasized the importance of every individual within the crew and acknowledged their contributions.

Wache also dispelled the notion that the team relied solely on one person. Contrary to this belief, the entire team worked tirelessly on improving the chassis and enhancing performance. Wache commended the dedication of over 300 engineers at the Red Bull factory, who played a crucial role in making the RB20 car more competitive.

Despite his significant involvement in crucial decisions regarding the RB20, Wache’s contributions have often gone unnoticed by the media. He has never sought recognition solely for his work within the team. Instead, the Frenchman’s motivation stems from a desire to succeed in the sport and enjoy the process.

Even in Newey’s absence, Red Bull will continue to work on refining the RB20 chassis during the summer break. Wache will need to put in extra hours to ensure a successful 2024 season and maintain their position at the top of the championship standings. The team faces a substantial workload ahead to uphold their lead.
