Acosta: Temporada de estreia não focada em vencer o Campeonato de MotoGP 2024

Novice in MotoGP, Pedro Acosta expressed that his main focus is not to compete for the 2024 title, despite securing his second podium of the season at the Grand Prix of the Americas. Acosta exceeded expectations in his rookie season in the premier class, becoming the youngest rider to achieve consecutive podiums. His third place in Portimão and second place at the Circuit of the Americas propelled him to fourth in the standings as the top KTM rider. However, Acosta remains grounded and does not let himself be consumed by rising expectations. Instead, he directs his attention to the next round in Jerez and emphasizes the importance of enjoying the current moment. Acosta acknowledges that the championship is a long season and not his current priority.

During the Americas GP, Acosta experienced what it was like to lead a MotoGP race for the first time after Marc Marquez crashed in front of him on the 11th lap. However, his lead was short-lived as Maverick Vinales overtook him two laps later and claimed an impressive comeback victory. Acosta admits he couldn’t keep up with Vinales’ pace and recognizes that no one in the world could have caught him that day. Acosta had observed Vinales’ exceptional pace during practice sessions and acknowledged that he was operating at a different level. Despite his efforts to defend his position, Acosta admits that Vinales was simply too strong. Acosta even tried to brake harder in turn 12 when Vinales passed him, but found it impossible. In the end, Acosta accepts that it wasn’t his day for the win.
