AC Cars has announced a new addition to the Cobra GT Roadster and Coupe range, an entry-level version equipped with a 2.0-liter 390 hp engine that will be available in 2026.
Currently, the Cobra GT features a version equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers 454 hp, and the new variant will expand the offerings of the British sports car brand.
So far, AC Cars has not revealed many details about the new engine, which they describe as “performance-oriented,” making it clear that the new model will feature a dual-clutch automatic transmission or, alternatively, a 6-speed manual gearbox.
All details regarding the specifications of the new version of the AC Cobra will be unveiled next spring, but everything suggests that the new model will provide a distinct driving experience compared to the version equipped with the V8 engine, benefiting from a weight reduction.
It should be noted that the AC Cars Cobra GT is a modern version of the historic AC and Shelby Cobra sports cars from the 1960s. The modern car models use a custom aluminum space frame chassis and feature a carbon fiber body.
The new addition to the Cobra GT range is seen by the CEO of AC Cars as a way to reach new markets that impose heavy taxes on vehicles equipped with larger displacement engines.
The British brand has already revealed that the new AC Cobra with a 2.0 engine is now available for order, with a starting price of £285,000, which is approximately €342,000.
