76ers’ Joel Embiid reveals his love for Premier League club Arsenal and how they have embraced the mantra ‘Trust the Process.’

Joel Embiid’s Love for Arsenal Grows Stronger as Gunners Embrace “Trust the Process”

Joel Embiid, the star player for the Philadelphia 76ers and reigning MVP, is not only a basketball aficionado but also a devoted fan of football. Specifically, Embiid is a loyal supporter of Arsenal, a club that he has stood by through thick and thin. The recent performance of the Gunners has only deepened Embiid’s affection for the team, especially since their manager, Mikel Arteta, has adopted the 76ers’ rallying cry from the mid-2010s: “Trust the Process.”

Since taking over as Arsenal’s manager in late 2019, Arteta has faced numerous challenges. The team endured eighth-place finishes in two consecutive seasons, and at one point, it seemed like Arteta’s job was in jeopardy after a rough start to the 2021-22 Premier League season. However, fast forward to 2024, and Arteta’s Arsenal is now a legitimate contender for the league title, much to Embiid’s delight.

During an appearance on the Men In Blazers podcast, Embiid expressed his belief in the process, stating, “Everybody’s got to stay healthy, but I do trust the process, you always have to trust the process, and I’m sure at some point there’s going to be some good ending to it.”

However, the meaning of “trusting the process” has evolved for both Embiid’s 76ers and Arteta’s Arsenal. For the 76ers, it now means overcoming the hurdles of the playoffs. As for the Gunners, as pointed out by the NBA MVP, they are adapting to the defensive strategies employed by opponents, who sit deep in a low block and invite pressure, rather than allowing Arsenal’s attacking prowess to dominate, as was the case when they came close to winning the Premier League in 2023.

Speaking about Arsenal’s expectations for the season, Embiid acknowledged the challenges they face, saying, “Last year there was no expectations, and this year, especially with how much they spent, there’s a lot of expectations to go out and try to win the league. There’s a reason why the Premier League is so hard, and that’s why it’s the best league in the world. It’s not going to be easy, every game is going to be a challenge. You gotta have a deep team, and you’ve got to have some luck too.”

As we approach the crucial part of the season, only time will tell if luck will be on the side of Joel Embiid’s 76ers and Arsenal. However, one thing is certain: both teams have unwavering belief in the process. They trust it wholeheartedly and will continue to do so.
