In a thrilling turn of events, 23XI Racing has dominated the front row during the NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA). The team’s star driver, Tyler Reddick, emerged as the pole winner, with his teammate Bubba Wallace securing the second spot in a show of undeniable speed and skill.

Reddick, esteemed for his 2023 victory at COTA, clocked an impressive speed of 88.095mph (98.076s). The duo’s fastest laps were recorded during their synchronized run on the track, demonstrating their impeccable teamwork.

Reflecting on their performance, Reddick admitted to Prime, “Man, today really threw us for a loop. The pace was nowhere where we thought it was going to be.” Despite the unexpected challenges, the team worked tirelessly to refine their Toyota Camrys, resulting in significant improvements between the first and second practice sessions.

Reddick’s current pole position provides an excellent track advantage for the upcoming race. His record at COTA is impressive, having begun in the top four in five out of his total starts at the circuit.

Wallace, on the other hand, secured the second spot with a lap of 87.894mph. This marks his second top-10 start in five races at COTA and notably, his first top-five start.

Expressing his admiration for Reddick, Wallace shared, “When we come to the road course races, I think everybody in the Toyota camp leans on Tyler. He does a great job of giving us the right information to chase.” He also acknowledged the contributions of the 23XI team for their relentless efforts in preparing the drivers and their vehicles for the race.

The qualifying session didn’t go as smoothly for all. Riley Herbst’s initial qualifying lap was disqualified due to track limit violations, which otherwise would have placed him as the third fastest behind his teammates.

Chase Elliott emerged as the third qualifier, clocking in at 87.842mph, despite feeling that he faltered during his first attempt. The top five qualifiers were rounded out by Carson Hocevar and Daniel Suarez, who recorded speeds of 87.858mph and 87.732mph respectively.

Other notable performances included those from Shane van Gisbergen, Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, Ross Chastain, and Todd Gilliland, who all secured spots in the top 10. Denny Hamlin, AJ Allmendinger, and Cup Series newbie Connor Zilisch also displayed promising performances.

Defending race champion, William Byron, ended up in 15th place. Other notable positions included Christopher Bell in 19th, Joey Logano in 23rd, and Brad Keselowski in 26th.

On the lower end, Herbst finished in 31st, Josh Berry in 35th, Austin Cindric in 36th, and Cody Ware concluded the field. The event recorded entries from 37 teams in Texas.

Up next is the exciting EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, set to take place at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. Stay tuned for more electrifying action from the world of NASCAR.
