2025 Mazda CX-50 gets early digital facelift

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) had a successful month in June, with total sales of 35,696 units. This represents a significant increase of almost 20% compared to the same month last year. In addition, Mazda’s year-to-date sales have reached 202,486 vehicles, showing a positive growth of 10.2% compared to the first six months of 2023.

It’s worth noting that some models have performed better than others. The compact Mazda3 saw a rise of almost 18% during the first half of the year. However, the beloved MX-5 Miata ND has experienced a decline of over 27% as it shows its age. On the other hand, the CX-5 compact crossover SUV remains the top-selling nameplate for Mazda, despite a 12.3% decrease in sales to just over 70k units.

In contrast, the CX-30 has seen a significant jump of 33% in sales, while the all-new CX-90 has skyrocketed by over 302%. The locally-produced CX-50 has also performed extremely well, with a 64% increase to more than 35k units. This slightly more rugged compact crossover SUV was introduced in 2022 for the 2023 model year in America and is produced at MTMUS in Huntsville, Alabama. It sits above the slightly smaller CX-5 and below the larger, RWD-focused CX-70.

Interestingly, despite being on the market for less than two full sales years, there are already rumors of a mid-cycle facelift for the Mazda CX-50 as early as the 2025 model year. The 2024 model year is currently available for purchase starting at $30,300. The CX-50 is a great option for small families, although it lacks a six-cylinder engine.

The AutoYa info channel on YouTube has created unofficial CGI renderings of what the 2025 model year Mazda CX-50 with mid-cycle refresh elements could look like. These renderings show potential changes to the headlights, bumper, and radiator grille, as well as an improved dashboard layout with a larger touchscreen display. The CGI expert has also provided a variety of unofficial color options for both the exterior and interior.

So, what are your thoughts? Will Mazda refresh the popular CX-50 for the 2025 or 2026 model years? Or will they focus on introducing the third-generation CX-5 first to boost sales before turning their attention to the CX-50?
