2025 Cupra Terramar Spied Naked – Exotic-Looking New-Gen VW Tiguan

Cupra, the Spanish automaker known for its sporty and electrified vehicles, is gearing up to release its latest models. One of these is the Tavascan, a reinterpretation of the popular Volkswagen ID.5 and ID.4. Alongside the Tavascan, Cupra will also introduce the Terramar, its own version of the Volkswagen Tiguan.

The Terramar has been in the works for quite some time, with rumors dating back to 2018. Cupra has taken its time to develop this model, and it is still yet to hit the assembly line. However, our spy photographers have managed to capture some revealing shots of a fully undisguised prototype. These photos were taken in sunny Spain, where the pre-production tester was spotted sitting in a parking lot.

From the front and rear shots, we can see that the Terramar has a slightly more toned-down design compared to the concept unveiled in 2022. It features revised lighting units, bumpers, and a few other tweaks. The length of the Terramar is around four and a half meters, which is similar to the latest VW Tiguan in Europe.

Like its German counterpart, the Terramar is expected to offer seating for five and will share the same underpinnings as other VW Group models. This includes the Formentor, Q6, Kodiaq, Atlas, and Golf. As for the powertrain, Cupra’s mid-size crossover is likely to come with a range of 1.5- and 2.0-liter engines. Some variants may have mild-hybrid assistance, while others could be plug-in hybrids. Front-wheel drive will be available for certain models, while upper specs will offer an all-wheel drive system.

There have been reports suggesting that Cupra might unveil the Terramar sooner than expected, with a worldwide debut potentially happening next month. The production of this model will take place in Hungary, alongside the Formentor and Audi Q3. However, it is uncertain whether the Terramar will be available in all markets.

Cupra has plans to expand its presence globally, with a focus on launching a next-generation zero-emission Formentor in the New World by the end of the decade. This model will be assembled locally, showcasing Cupra’s commitment to the future of electric vehicles.
