2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed: A New Era of Luxury Power Begins

Bentley has pulled off an audacious transformation for its iconic Continental GT in 2025. Gone is the legendary W-12 engine, replaced with a cutting-edge twin-turbo hybrid V-8 that promises more power, better efficiency, and unmatched agility. While the new design might stir controversy, the driving experience leaves no doubt—this is still the king of luxury grand tourers, now enhanced with electrified tech.

Performance Powerhouse: Hybrid V-8 Redefines Speed

The 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed ditches its previous 12-cylinder engine in favor of a new hybrid V-8, and the result is staggering. With a monstrous 771 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, it becomes the most powerful Bentley ever made. The hybrid system, featuring a 187-hp electric motor, eliminates turbo lag entirely, making every touch of the throttle an instant surge of acceleration. Despite weighing over 5,400 pounds, this beast rockets from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, proving it’s not just about luxury—it’s about pure performance.

Driving Dynamics: Lighter, Sharper, and Ready to Roar

This isn’t just an engine upgrade. The hybrid V-8 offers far more agility compared to the heavier W-12, allowing the front end to respond with razor-sharp precision. The car’s balance has been fine-tuned with a battery pack at the rear, making it feel more nimble in corners. With rear-wheel steering and torque-vectoring tech, the Continental GT Speed remains impressively planted, while also ready to kick out the rear with a satisfying slide when pushed hard.

The transformation is more than just mechanical. The GT Speed roars with an exhaust note that rivals even the Lamborghini Urus, adding an unexpected but fitting edge to this Bentley’s personality. It’s a grand tourer that’s both wickedly fast and supremely luxurious, a rare combination that few competitors can match.

A Bold New Look: A Departure from Tradition

Bentley has taken a significant leap with its new design for the Continental GT. Gone are the trademark quad headlights that have defined the model since 2003. In their place are sleek, modern clusters with a striking “eyebrow” daytime running light. While some purists may lament the loss of the iconic lighting design, Bentley’s design chief, Robin Page, insists it’s part of a necessary evolution.

“Round headlights can feel retro and old-fashioned,” Page explained. “We had to move away from that to give the Continental GT a modern expression.”

Although the look is polarizing, early feedback from customers has been positive, especially since Bentley retained the signature grille—a non-negotiable element for many fans.

Interior: Luxury Refined

Inside, the 2025 Continental GT continues to set the standard for automotive opulence. The cabin boasts the highest-quality materials, with plenty of real metal switchgear that offers a tactile and satisfying feel. Bentley’s commitment to craftsmanship is evident everywhere, from the meticulously designed seats to the intuitive physical buttons that control key functions. While the latest tech is present, including a customizable digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, the focus is squarely on creating a luxurious and driver-centric environment.

For those who prefer a more classic touch, Bentley offers its rotating display, allowing drivers to swap the central touchscreen for analog dials—perfect for those who appreciate a timeless aesthetic.

The Hybrid Edge: Silent Cruising Meets Explosive Power

One of the standout features of the new hybrid setup is the ability to cruise on electric power alone for up to 50 miles on the European cycle. This transforms the Continental GT into a near-silent luxury cruiser when you want to glide through town inconspicuously. But when you’re ready to unleash the beast, a quick switch back to Sport mode reignites the roaring V-8, ready to conquer mountain roads or the open highway. It’s a dual personality that adds to the car’s versatility and appeal.

The Verdict: The Ultimate Grand Tourer, Reinvented

The 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed may have lost its iconic W-12 engine and beloved quad headlights, but what it’s gained far outweighs the sacrifice. This is a grand tourer that combines blistering performance with supreme comfort, now with the added benefits of hybrid technology. It’s a car that excels whether you’re carving through the Swiss Alps or cruising through city streets.

At an estimated base price of $260,000, the new Continental GT Speed isn’t cheap, but for those who can afford it, few cars offer this level of refinement, performance, and sheer presence. Competitors like the Aston Martin DB12 and Maserati GranTurismo offer worthy challenges, but the Bentley remains in a class of its own. Simply put, anyone doubting the Continental GT’s status as the ultimate all-rounder needs only one drive to be convinced otherwise.
