Oliver Bearman, the test driver for Haas VF-24, exited the pits during Free Practice Day of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, on May 17, 2024. In the free practice session under sunny conditions, Charles Leclerc set the fastest lap with a time of 1:16.990s, surpassing George Russell and his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz.
Russell was just over a tenth of a second behind Leclerc’s time, while Sainz was 0.130s behind. Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen’s Red Bulls secured fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Verstappen struggled throughout the session and finished a quarter of a second behind Leclerc.
Yuki Tsunoda impressed with a sixth place for RB, followed by Lewis Hamilton in seventh. Lando Norris, the winner of the Miami Grand Prix, secured the eighth fastest time, ahead of his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin rounded out the top ten.
