Accidents on the circuit were key to Berlin’s victory, says Cassidy.

Acidentes no circuito foram chave para a vitória de Berlin, diz Cassidy.

Nick Cassidy, the winner of the Berlin E-Prix, acknowledged that the entry of the Safety Car during the first race of the weekend played a significant role in his impressive victory. Despite starting from ninth position and initially dropping to 21st, Cassidy made an impressive comeback through the pack, securing first place and taking the lead in the Drivers’ Championship. Reflecting on his performance, Cassidy stated: “Initially, I believed we would be in contention for the top six or eight positions, but the intervention of the Safety Car changed the dynamics and turned the top six into a win.”

This victory marks another success for the Jaguar TCS Racing team in Berlin, following their first and second place finishes last season. However, when asked about the suitability of his car for the circuit, Cassidy humbly dismissed any specific claims. “I believe it’s more a matter of luck – I found myself in 21st place, lacking speed, despite qualifying in ninth and tenth.”

Although luck favored Cassidy this time, he acknowledges that fortune has not always been on his side in previous events. “If we look at Misano, we lost a significant number of points, so these things can happen. However, the next five races are crucial for us to consistently score in each one, ensuring that we reach the London race with a substantial score and remain competitive.”

Tomorrow’s race will cover a slightly shorter distance, and with Jaguar facing challenges in terms of speed during qualifying, Cassidy recognizes that the team needs to push harder to achieve a better result. “Tomorrow’s focus will likely be on improving our performance in qualifying, so we need to step up our game.”
