Jorge Martin emerged as the dominant force in the MotoGP sprint race at the French Grand Prix, riding his Pramac Ducati to victory and further extending his lead in the championship. Francesco Bagnaia faced a challenging start as his bike didn’t stabilize, causing him to initially drop to 15th place. However, a technical issue ultimately forced the reigning champion to go off track at turn 7 and retire from the race.

Aleix Espargaro’s premature start resulted in a two long lap penalty, effectively eliminating his chances of a podium finish. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez made an impressive leap from 13th on the grid to fifth by the end of the first lap. With a pass on Maverick Vinales and Espargaro’s penalty, Marquez quickly secured a spot in the podium positions.

Vinales managed to hold onto his podium position, fending off Enea Bastianini on the factory Ducati, who settled for fourth after moving up from a lower grid position. Pedro Acosta secured a comfortable sixth place, engaging in a battle with teammate Jack Miller early in the race, with Miller finishing in eighth.

Both VR46 riders, Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio, had a promising start to their race. Bezzecchi held second position and gradually closed the gap to Jorge Martin. However, with only a few laps to go, Bezzecchi unfortunately crashed at turn 10. Di Giannantonio, on the other hand, managed to score points by maintaining a steady pace and getting more familiar with his Ducati, finishing in seventh place.

Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira capitalized on their respectable results in the classification, with Fernandez finishing in ninth place and Oliveira in eleventh. Fernandez managed to fend off Fabio Quartararo, who faced a challenging race and finished in tenth place. Quartararo’s teammate, Alex Rins, had an even tougher race as he crashed during the race.

Despite showing promising pace in the classification, Franco Morbidelli struggled during the race and finished in 12th place, a few seconds behind Oliveira. Johann Zarco led the way for Honda with his 13th place, showing overall improvement in pace while battling with Morbidelli and Alex Marquez, who finished one place behind in 14th.

Brad Binder struggled to recover from the back of the grid, finishing in 15th place and finding himself in no man’s land, a few seconds ahead of the riders behind him but unable to close the gap to the front pack.

Takaaki Nakagami settled for 16th place, continuing a challenging period for both the Japanese rider and the manufacturer. Joan Mir crashed out of the race, while Luca Marini was left alone, 27 seconds behind the leaders.

MotoGP action will continue tomorrow at 1:00 PM UK time.
