Julien Andlauer, from Proton Competition, is leading the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps after one hour of racing, with a 7-second gap to Antonio Giovinazzi in the Ferrari #51. Andlauer is driving the Proton #99 Porsche 963 and started in third position, behind Fred Makowiecki of Porsche and Alex Lynn of Cadillac. Makowiecki initially secured the pole position but was later disqualified, resulting in a drop to the back of the Hypercar grid. Andlauer quickly overtook Lynn in the Cadillac V-Series.R #2 and then successfully chased down Makowiecki, taking the lead in the middle of the first hour.
During the pit stop cycle, Giovinazzi managed to overtake Makowiecki, securing second place and allowing him to start closing the gap to Andlauer. Giovinazzi started in tenth position in the Ferrari #51 and has been steadily climbing through the pack. Ferrari seeks redemption for the strategic error in Imola, and Giovinazzi’s performance is showing promise.
In the LMGT3 category, Sarah Bovy, from Iron Dames, is dominating with a huge 30-second lead after just one hour of racing. Bovy, driving the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 #85, has maintained the lead from the start and has not looked back since. James Cottingham is currently in second place, driving the United Autosports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo #59. However, he faces a significant challenge to catch up to Bovy. Yasser Shahin is in third place, driving the Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3R #91.
