#31: Whelen Engineering Racing, Cadillac DPi, GTP: Pipo Derani, Alexander Sims, #10: Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06, Acura ARX-06, GTP: Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque pit stops

The #10 Acura from Wayne Taylor Racing, driven by Filipe Albuquerque, set the fastest lap time on Friday afternoon at Laguna Seca, with a time of 1:14.434.

The recently repaved Laguna Seca circuit saw impressive lap times on Friday afternoon. Filipe Albuquerque, behind the wheel of the Acura #10, managed to top the time sheets with a lap time of 1:14.434.

Philipp Eng in the BMW #24 GTP initially held the fastest lap time in the first half of the session, finishing just 0.019 seconds behind the fastest time.

Mathieu Jaminet set the third fastest time for the Porsche Penske #6, completing the most laps of all, with 46 laps, despite red flag interruptions. Jordan Taylor in the Acura #40 was not far behind his sister car, with just a 0.243-second difference after completing 40 laps.

Jack Aitken in the Cadillac Whelen #31 hit the Turn 4, causing a red flag early in the session. However, despite the team’s inability to repair the car before the end of the session, Aitken still managed to set a lap time of 1:14.734, just a few tenths behind the best time, securing fifth place in the GTP category.

In the GTD class, Seb Priaulx for AO Racing set the fastest time in his Porsche 911 #77, with a lap time of 1:21.182. He narrowly beat Alexander Sims in the Corvette #3, who was just a few tenths slower than the Porsche and dominated the time sheets for most of the session.

Nicky Catsburg in Corvette #4 finished just a few tenths behind the fastest time, while Philip Ellis in Mercedes AMG GT3 #57 was a tenth of a second behind.

Rounding out the top five in GTD was Loris Spinelli in Lamborghini #78, who was less than a tenth of a second behind the leading Mercedes.

IMSA action at Laguna Seca will continue with Free Practice 2 tomorrow, starting at 5:15 pm UK time.
