IndyCar hit the track at IMS on Friday afternoon for the second free practice session of the Sonsio Grand Prix weekend.

A brief 45-minute session allowed the drivers to further refine their setups before qualifying later in the day.

In the final minutes of the session, Will Power put his Team Penske Chevy in first position with a time of 1:09.6899, appearing to secure the fastest lap of the day.

However, Christian Lundgaard surpassed him, completing a lap in 1:09.5588, just over a tenth of a second faster than his competitors.

Scott Dixon secured the third fastest time, showing his usual pace and indicating his readiness to compete throughout the weekend.

Scott McLaughlin and Felix Rosenqvist secured fourth and fifth places on the timesheet, respectively, maintaining their strong start to the 2024 season.

Graham Rahal and Marcus Armstrong, who replaced their engines between the practice sessions, were able to participate in the full 45-minute session.

Rahal finished in ninth place on the timesheet, while Armstrong did even better, putting his Chip Ganassi Racing Honda #11 in seventh position.

Only one red flag was raised during this session, compared to the three from the previous practice, when Jack Harvey got stuck in the grass.

Harvey spun his Dale Coyne Racing Honda at the exit of Turn 10 and needed assistance from the AMR safety team to continue.

Some other drivers spun at the same corner, but Harvey was the only one who needed external help to continue.

The knockout qualifying for the Sonsio Grand Prix will take place later in the afternoon, with the first round starting at 4:20 pm, wrapping up a busy day at the 2.44-mile circuit.
