The White House in the USA investigates rejection of the offer from the Andretti F1 team.

Casa Branca dos EUA investiga rejeição da oferta da equipe Andretti F1

The NBC released a statement from Republican Jim Jordan addressed to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Liberty Media President and CEO Greg Maffei discussing the possibility of “unfair competition.”

Formula One, owned by Liberty Media, rejected the proposal earlier this year, expressing doubts about its competitiveness and value. However, they left open the possibility of reconsideration in 2028 if General Motors, their partner, could provide an engine.

Andretti Global, led by Michael Andretti, CART champion in 1991 and son of 1978 F1 world champion Mario Andretti, was the applicant in question.

In October 2023, the governing body FIA approved Andretti Global’s request, but Formula One Management, the commercial rights holder, rejected it, causing a conflict between the two entities.

Jordan’s letter criticized the reasons given for denying Andretti Cadillac entry into Formula One, considering them arbitrary and unrelated to their suitability as a competitor. He argued that delaying their entry would harm American consumers and only benefit struggling F1 teams.

Jordan also urged the committee to hold a team-level meeting to discuss the decision to deny Andretti Cadillac’s request and requested that it take place before May 21, coinciding with the Monaco Grand Prix. Formula One has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment.

During the Miami Grand Prix, 84-year-old Mario Andretti spoke to GRANDPRIX247 reporter Nasir Hameed, stating that preparations to enter Formula 1 were progressing: “We need to reach a conclusion. We have demonstrated our commitment and readiness for 2026. Our goals are clear and we understand the requirements to fulfill them. We were informed in a meeting that the January statement was not final. We just need to have a conversation and address any missing information.”
Andretti Global recently established a new facility in Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix, to accommodate its design department and racing team.
