Christian Horner confirma que o contrato de Max Verstappen com a Red Bull não está ligado de nenhuma forma a Adrian Newey.

Max Verstappen is currently under contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 Formula 1 season. The Chief Technical Director, who has been with Red Bull since 2006, will leave the team by early 2025. This news has sparked speculation about the connection between Verstappen’s contract and that of the team’s Aero-genius, Adrian Newey.

During a press conference for the Miami Grand Prix, Verstappen was asked about the possible link between his contract and Newey’s. The details of Verstappen’s contract remain confidential, but it was clarified that there are no clauses tying Newey to Verstappen. Over the years, Newey has had a positive relationship with all Red Bull drivers, and his departure will not disrupt the team’s structure.

Amid internal conflicts and power struggles within Red Bull, rumors have circulated about Verstappen’s possible departure. The latest rumor suggests that Mercedes has offered him a $150 million contract. Verstappen’s father and management team have also expressed concerns about the team’s internal issues. However, during the press conference, team principal Christian Horner dismissed these rumors as mere “fantasies.”

Horner emphasized that Verstappen is content with the team and has a strong support system of engineers. He also highlighted the fact that Verstappen currently drives the best car in the category and is performing at the peak of his abilities. Horner dismissed the weekly rumors as unfounded and stated that Verstappen has no reason to leave the team due to the successful dynamic he has established over the years. However, considering the unpredictable nature of the sport, surprises may still arise in the coming months.
