Brown believes that Newey’s departure from F1 will trigger a chain reaction at Red Bull.

Brown acredita que a saída de Newey da F1 desencadeará uma reação em cadeia na Red Bull.

In a recent development within the Formula 1 community, McLaren CEO Zak Brown made a bold prediction about the departure of renowned design expert Adrian Newey from Red Bull. Brown believes that Newey’s departure will be the catalyst for a series of significant changes within the team.

Red Bull officially announced earlier this week that Newey, who played a key role in the team’s success over the past two decades, will be stepping down from his technical role in 2025. This decision marks the end of an era that saw Red Bull secure an impressive 13 titles.

Speculations surrounding Newey’s departure suggest that it may be related to an internal power struggle at Red Bull, triggered by an investigation into the behavior of team principal Christian Horner. Brown, expressing his lack of surprise at Newey’s decision, believes that this change could pave the way for other key figures to seek new opportunities elsewhere.

When asked about his reaction to the news, Brown stated: “If you had asked me six months ago, I would have been surprised. However, given the recent events and my familiarity with Adrian, it is not surprising that he has chosen to move on. He is a person of great integrity, and I believe that the current situation at Red Bull has been destabilizing. This may be the first of many significant changes to come, considering the caliber of people who may be considering their options.”

Despite the events at Red Bull, Brown remains optimistic about McLaren’s progress. He expressed his satisfaction with the dedicated McLaren team’s efforts, highlighting their ability to enhance the performance of their cars. Brown firmly believes that McLaren has the necessary resources, including talented personnel and drivers, to regain their position at the forefront of the sport. With unwavering confidence in the team’s abilities, he emphasized their commitment to the goal of reclaiming their position as leaders in Formula 1.

Brown revealed that McLaren has received numerous inquiries from people looking to leave Red Bull and believes this trend will continue due to Newey’s decision to leave. Expanding on his previous statement, Brown added, “We have seen an increase in resumes coming from the team, and I believe that Adrian, being the most talented designer of all time, attracts people not only for his technical expertise but also for the opportunity to work alongside him.”

“I believe the team will feel the absence of his immense technical skills, as well as the leadership and excitement that comes from working with him.”

While Brown does not completely rule out the possibility of Newey returning to McLaren, where he previously worked from 1997 to 2005, the American expressed confidence in the current technical team of the team.

“With a resume and track record like Adrian Newey’s, it is undeniable that he would bring value to any racing team,” he acknowledged.

“However, we are satisfied with the direction we are heading. I never say never, but I am pleased with the team, the technical leadership, and Andrea’s management of the racing team. We have a plan in place and will continue to seek opportunities to enhance our racing team.”
