Lewis Hamilton began the Miami Grand Prix weekend with impressive car maneuvers in front of the famous Empire State Building in New York City.

Formula 1 is heading to the United States for the next race. The sport has experienced a significant increase in popularity in America, with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton playing a key role in its growth. To the delight of fans, Hamilton took his former Mercedes F1 car for a spin in New York.

Hamilton drove the 2021 Mercedes W12 in the bustling city. This was the car with which he lost the 2021 world championship in the infamous Abu Dhabi season finale. The W12 received a new look, featuring the 2024 Mercedes livery with a silver and black color combination.

In front of the iconic Empire State Building, Hamilton showcased his skills by doing burnouts, much to the excitement of onlookers gathered on Fifth Avenue to get a close look at the 39-year-old driver. This thrilling display by Hamilton marked a stylish start to the race weekend, with more exciting activities expected in the coming days.

Lewis Hamilton has a special bond with the United States, as he always dreamed of living in New York City as a child. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to spend time in the Big Apple and had amazing experiences and encounters with incredible people. However, driving an F1 car on Fifth Avenue on the way to the Empire State Building was beyond his wildest imagination. Hamilton expressed his joy and gratitude for being able to have such a unique experience.

Fans were thrilled to witness Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel of his previous race-winning Mercedes in the heart of New York City. As the seven-time world champion gears up for the Miami race, he will be seeking a strong performance. The Mercedes team had a challenging start to the 2024 season, and Hamilton will be determined to secure a spot on the podium for his American supporters.
