Cupra Formentor e Leon ganham novo design e mais potência

Cupra has decided to renew the Formentor, the brand’s best-selling model, and the Leon for the first time, and for this, the brand’s designers have carried out a deep update that brings many novelties.

Developed in Martorell, the two models now feature a new design language from Cupra and on the exterior, they present a front section that brings the well-known “shark nose”, already seen in the Terramar, along with triangular LED daytime running lights and a wide, open grille. In the rear, the taillights and the Cupra logo have been updated, now illuminated.

The interior of the two models has also been revised and now offers a higher quality environment with redesigned elements such as the central console adopting a more sustainable approach with Bucket seats, which can be upholstered with sustainable microfiber (73% recycled and laser-perforated) or with leather that is considered “environmentally conscious.”

The models also gain a larger 12.9” touch-sensitive infotainment screen, equipped with a new operating software that offers greater customization and responsiveness.

The refreshed Cupra models also incorporate a new high-fidelity audio system with 12 speakers, developed in collaboration with the premium audio company Sennheiser Mobility.

Based on the VW Group’s MQB Evo platform, the mechanical offer of the two models is extensive with a highlight being an updated version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 333 hp, which is 23 hp more than its predecessor, and is available in the Formentor and the Leon Sportstourer.

The models equipped with this engine also feature torque vectoring, Akebono brakes, and a special Cupra driving mode that allows adjusting the throttle response and gear changes. This top-of-the-line version of the updated Formentor and Leon is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive.

The range will also feature a second variant of the 2.0-liter engine that offers 204 hp, along with a 48 V mild-hybrid option, equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 150 hp.

There are also two plug-in hybrid versions with 204 and 272 hp, which are associated with a new 19.7 kWh battery, replacing the previous 13 kWh one, and announcing a range of up to 100 km in 100% electric mode. The charging capacity has also been improved, allowing the plug-in hybrid versions to be charged up to 50 kW.

Cupra has already announced that the updated Formentor and Leon will hit the market in the summer.
