Aldeguer vence corrida de Moto2 em Jerez partindo da pole position.

Fermin Aldeguer, pilot of SpeedUp, showcased his MotoGP skills by converting his pole position into his first victory of the Moto2 season in Jerez. He faced an early battle with Manuel Gonzalez of Gresini, but eventually Joe Roberts overtook Gonzalez and secured second place. Aldeguer’s winning margin was over two seconds, with Gonzalez finishing in a close third place.

Aldeguer started the race on pole position, alongside Albert Arenas of Gresini and Jake Dixon of CF Moto Aspar. Dixon had a challenging start to his campaign due to injury and suspension issues. Saturday’s qualifying session had mixed conditions, which affected the grid positions of some championship contenders. Roberts, who was in second place in the standings, started in 11th, while championship leader Sergio Garcia started in sixth.

At the start of the race, Gonzalez took the lead from the second row of the grid, with Aldeguer settling in behind him. However, Aldeguer quickly overtook Gonzalez at Turn 5 to claim the lead. Garcia moved up to third place, followed by Dixon. On the second lap, Garcia and Aldeguer engaged in a battle for second place, with Aldeguer eventually regaining the position. The top three riders, Gonzalez, Aldeguer, and Garcia, began to pull away from the rest of the pack.

As the race progressed, Roberts made his way through the field, overtaking Dixon to secure fifth place. Aldeguer and Gonzalez continued to swap positions, providing an exciting battle for the lead. Roberts also made significant progress, passing Arenas to claim fourth place. With 10 laps remaining, Aldeguer had established a comfortable lead over Gonzalez, while Roberts closed in on Garcia in pursuit of a podium finish.

In the final laps, Aldeguer maintained his lead and crossed the finish line with a 1.8-second advantage over Gonzalez. Roberts successfully overtook Gonzalez to secure second place. Garcia finished in fourth place, over four seconds behind the podium. Arenas came in fifth, followed by Ai Ogura in sixth.

Roberts’ strong performance in the race propelled him to the top of the championship standings with 69 points. Garcia dropped to second place with 64 points, while Aldeguer’s victory elevated him to third place with 54 points.
