Sergio Perez, a renowned Formula 1 driver, has accumulated an impressive total of 1571 points throughout his career in the sport. Despite his departure from Formula 1, Perez’s legacy will be remembered forever. Compared to the legendary Michael Schumacher, who won seven world championships and an impressive 1566 career points, Perez surprisingly surpassed his points total in the current era of motorsport. It is important to note that the points system during Schumacher’s time in the sport differed significantly from the current system. Despite Schumacher’s retirement in 2012, he still ranks among the top ten drivers in terms of points due to his dominant performance in Formula 1. Perez’s recent third-place finish in [race name] further increased his career points to 1571, securing him the eighth position on the list of drivers with the highest number of points. Schumacher, on the other hand, now holds the ninth position with 1566 points. However, sources suggest that if the new points system had been in place during Schumacher’s time, he would have accumulated an impressive total of 4660 points. Perez’s exceptional second-place finishes throughout the current season have earned him significant points, although he still trails behind his teammate in terms of total points due to his inability to overtake. However, Perez is determined to surpass the seventh driver on the list in terms of points, who currently holds a total of 1594 career points. The difference between Perez and this driver is only 23.5 points, making this a feasible goal for Perez to achieve. However, he will face a greater challenge in overtaking the sixth driver on the list. Perez aims to secure a place at Red Bull beyond the 2024 season. Thanks to his exceptional performance with the RB20, Perez has almost secured his future with the team. His reasonable demands for a contract extension have also increased his chances of continuing to race in Formula 1 for a few more years.
