Mercedes-Benz Classe G elétrico traz 587 cv e 473 km de autonomia

Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the 100% electric G-Class, which maintains the same aesthetic and promises to be as or even more competent off-road than the combustion engine versions.

With almost half a century of history, the G580 with EQ technology is equipped with four electric motors that deliver a combined power of 587 hp and a maximum torque of 1165 Nm, which is 2 hp and 315 Nm more than the AMG G63 version.

These numbers allow the electric variant of the G-Class to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, that is, four tenths of a second slower than the gasoline AMG, and reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

Each of the four electric motors is equipped with a two-speed automatic gearbox, allowing for individual torque distribution. The electric motors are powered by a 116 kWh lithium-ion battery, located between the axles, protected by an aluminum and kevlar casing, promising a range of up to 473 km in the WLTP cycle, and can be charged at a maximum of 200 kW from 10 to 80% in 32 minutes.

The new G580 has not lost any off-road capability compared to combustion versions, and therefore is equipped with virtual differential locks possible through torque vectoring, as well as adaptive adjustable dampers.

In addition, the new 100% electric G-Class offers up to 100% tilt capability on certain surfaces and the ability to cross side slopes of up to 35 degrees.

The G580 also features a fording depth of up to 850 mm, 100 mm more than the standard model, has a 32-degree approach angle, 30.7-degree departure angle, and 20.3-degree breakover angle.

The new Mercedes electric SUV also offers customized functions to assist the driver in off-road adventures: a G-Turn, which allows the vehicle to rotate 720 degrees, as well as G-Steering, which significantly reduces the turning angle to navigate more challenging situations.

The new G580 also features a new “invisible bonnet” function that uses cameras installed in the side mirrors to facilitate navigating more difficult terrains.

Esthetically, the exterior of the G580 does not bring many changes compared to the combustion models, highlighting the redesigned hood to improve airflow, and the option to transform the spare tire box into a place to accommodate the charging cable

As for the interior, there are no major news, with the G580 featuring two 12.3’’ screens for the instrument panel and infotainment system with MBUX interface. The second row of seats is equipped with 11.3’’ screens to entertain passengers.
