Ricciardo furioso com resposta de Stroll ao acidente.

The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League was recently the scene of a heated incident involving Daniel Ricciardo and Lance Stroll during the Chinese Grand Prix. Stroll, in a moment of frustration, rear-ended Ricciardo as the safety car was coming off the track. The incident occurred as a result of Fernando Alonso locking up the brakes in the turn, causing the cars behind him to slow down to avoid breaking the rules. While George Russell, Oscar Piastri, and Ricciardo managed to slow down in time, Stroll failed to react and collided with the back of Ricciardo’s car, causing it to lift off the ground. It seems that Stroll was not paying attention to the cars slowing down in front of him, as evidenced by onboard footage showing his helmet turning to the right moments before the incident.

Stroll was caught on the official F1 broadcast expressing his frustration, referring to the situation as “these idiots” or “this idiot.” Ricciardo, upon hearing Stroll’s comments, became visibly upset and stated that it “made my blood boil.” Ricciardo emphasized that the incident was clearly Stroll’s fault and that it occurred behind a safety car, where the only responsibility of the drivers is to watch the car in front. Ricciardo voiced his frustration with Stroll, saying, “But f**k this guy – and I’m still being polite.”

Despite his anger, Ricciardo stated that he would not retaliate against Stroll on the track. He hoped that Stroll would take responsibility for his actions when he saw the replay of the incident. However, if Stroll does not acknowledge his mistake, Ricciardo believes there is nothing else he or anyone else can do to help him understand. Ricciardo admitted that he usually does not read post-race coverage, but he would make an exception to find out what Stroll had to say.

In response to Ricciardo’s comments, Stroll stated that the incident was simply a result of bad luck and that the penalty he received was unfair. Stroll argued that the collision occurred due to a strange and stupid “accordion effect,” and not because he intentionally rear-ended Ricciardo. However, Ricciardo disagreed with Stroll’s explanation, stating that onboard footage of Stroll showed that he was not paying attention to the situation and was not focused on Ricciardo. Ricciardo also noted that the force of Stroll’s impact was significant, going beyond a simple judgment error.

The race stewards’ verdict supported Ricciardo’s perspective, stating that Stroll should have been more alert and prepared to brake properly. They emphasized that if Stroll had done so, the collision could have been avoided. Stroll received a 10-second penalty for his actions, but ultimately retired from the race without facing further consequences.

Ricciardo believes it is more important for Stroll to take responsibility for his actions than to face additional punishments. He hopes that once emotions have calmed down, Stroll will realize the impact of his mistake and learn from it. Ricciardo emphasized that everyone makes mistakes, but it is crucial for Stroll to understand that he was responsible for ruining not only his own race, but also Ricciardo’s.
