Bortolotti: Lamborghini mira competir contra equipes de ponta na FIA WEC.

The Italian driver Mirko Bortolotti, from the Iron Lynx team of Lamborghini, expressed his desire to compete with the top competitors in the FIA World Endurance Championship. However, he acknowledged that the team is taking a cautious approach and progressing gradually in the race at Imola this weekend. Bortolotti emphasized the importance of learning from each outing and lap, as they strive to improve their performance. He highlighted the successful completion of races in Qatar and the IMSA championship, which demonstrated the reliability of the car. The ultimate goal is to be competitive and challenge the top teams in the field.

The Lamborghini Hypercar SC63 made its debut in Qatar, finishing 13th in the grueling 1812 km race. The team then traveled to the United States for the 12 Hours of Sebring in the IMSA championship, where they secured a seventh place in the lead lap. The team’s campaign continues at the 6 Hours of Imola in Emilia Romagna. Bortolotti started the weekend positively, setting the fourth fastest time in the first practice session (FP1). However, he acknowledged that it is still early in the weekend and the team needs to maintain their performance and aim for a strong result.

Recognizing the challenge of competing against established manufacturers like Ferrari, Toyota, and Porsche, Bortolotti emphasized the importance of being realistic. Lamborghini is still in the early stages of its career in sports cars and lacks experience in this field. However, Bortolotti remains optimistic, citing examples of other manufacturers who have shown progress over time. He expressed his satisfaction with Lamborghini’s achievements so far in 2024, considering the limited development time for the car. However, he also emphasized the need to keep moving forward and take the necessary steps to improve. Bortolotti is excited about the upcoming races, including his home race this weekend.
