The UK subsidiary of the Gothenburg-based company has developed the Volvo EX30 Cargo, the commercial version of the Nordic manufacturer’s fully electric SUV, which will be exclusively marketed through its fleet channel in the British market. Based on the passenger variant, it has been stripped of the rear seat and received a partition and protective panels in the trunk, in order to create a space dedicated to cargo transport.
The capacity of the compartment reaches 1000 liters, more than three times the volume of the EX30 passenger trunk, with a payload of 390 kg, limited by the vehicle’s high weight. Among the improvements made are the larger opening angle of the rear doors, to facilitate the placement of items; the tinted rear windows, to ensure privacy; and the installation of anchorage points in the cargo compartment to prevent objects from moving during transport.
The conversion to Cargo can be applied to various equipment levels, including the Cross Country variant, and to the different engine options in the range, with the top version, featuring two motors and all-wheel drive, delivering 426 hp, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.“Although we are better known for our passenger cars, we recognize that businesses and fleets also seek the quality, safety, and technology for which Volvo is famous. That’s why we created this extremely EX30 Cargo,” said Jack Munford, Fleet Director of Volvo UK.
