Audi continues to accelerate its strategy in the Chinese market and has revealed a new electric SUV that promises to establish a position in the premium segment. Named E7X, the model emerges as the flagship of the AUDI sub-brand, created specifically to meet the demands of Chinese consumers.
AUDI sub-brand strengthens technological investment in China
The AUDI sub-brand was born in 2024, the result of a partnership between Audi and SAIC Motor, with the aim of developing models adapted to the local market. This new line is distinguished by a minimalist design, strong technological integration, and connection to Chinese digital ecosystems.
Unlike the traditional models of the brand, the vehicles of this sub-brand do not use the iconic four-ring logo, adopting only the designation “AUDI” in capital letters. All models are based on the new Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), designed for electric and connected vehicles.

E7X takes top position in the range
After the debut of the E5 Sportback in 2025, Audi now presents the E7X, a five-seater electric SUV that positions itself at the top of this sub-brand’s offering.
With a length of 5,049 mm, a width of 2,002 mm, and a height of 1,708 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,060 mm, the model surpasses the dimensions of the Audi Q8. According to Fermin Soneira, responsible for the joint project between Audi and SAIC, it is “a no-compromise SUV,” developed to directly meet the expectations of Chinese customers.
Distinct design and striking presence
The E7X bets on a differentiating aesthetic, with a vertical front dominated by digital Matrix LED headlights arranged in an enveloping signature. The silhouette features robust lines, with pronounced wheel arches and short overhangs, giving the model a strong and muscular presence on the road.
Two versions and up to 670 hp
The range will consist of two variants. The base version will have 402 hp, while the top-of-the-line version reaches 670 hp, clearly positioning itself in the high-performance electric segment.
This positioning follows the strategy already demonstrated with the E5 Sportback, which was presented with a dual-motor system, all-wheel drive, and 776 hp, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Local production and exclusive focus on the Chinese market
The new E7X will be presented to the public at Auto China in Beijing in April 2026, with production expected to begin in the summer. The model will be manufactured at the Shanghai Volkswagen facility in Anting and is intended exclusively for the Chinese market.
Europe and the US continue to wait for the Q9
While Audi strengthens its presence in China with new models and dedicated sub-brands, the European and North American markets continue to lack concrete news about the anticipated Q9, the brand’s larger SUV.
