Mercedes-AMG has finally revealed the purpose behind the impressive CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT, presented last year, confirming that the prototype serves as the basis for two new high-performance models: the future Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the next generation of the AMG GT Black Series. With this decision, the Affalterbach brand reinforces its commitment to expanding the GT family with offerings focused on both competition and the road.
One concept, two models, and a clear ambition
The CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT was not conceived as an isolated styling exercise. From the beginning, it has served as a technological platform intended to give rise to two distinct vehicles, united by a common goal: uncompromising performance.
Michael Schiebe, member of the board of directors of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and responsible for Mercedes-AMG, emphasized that the ongoing development aims to create “the most extreme Black Series ever” while simultaneously developing a new GT3 capable of setting benchmarks in motorsport.
Direct connection between track and road
The road-legal variant of the concept plays an essential role in the development of the successor to the GT3. The designation “TRACK SPORT” was chosen precisely to symbolize this connection between pure track performance — characteristic of the GT3 — and the extreme, yet legal approach for road use of the Black Series models.
The prototypes have been undergoing intensive testing since October 2025, with sessions held at various circuits, including Immendingen, Bilster Berg, Portimão, and Monteblanco. The entry into testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife now marks a new phase of development.
The visual identity of the models has been defined: red will identify the GT3 within the brand's Motorsport language, while yellow-green will be associated with the future Black Series.

New GT3 continues the legacy in Customer Racing
The future Mercedes-AMG GT3 represents the natural evolution of the brand's Customer Racing program, initiated in 2010 and solidified with models such as the SLS AMG GT3 and the current AMG GT3, launched in 2016 and updated in 2020.
For the development of the new model, Affalterbach Racing GmbH was created, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mercedes-AMG, responsible for the engineering and construction of the vehicle in conjunction with the Motorsport division.
According to Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, the goal is clear: to present a vehicle that continues the brand's successful history, raising the standards in terms of performance, safety, and competitiveness. The model is currently in an intensive phase of development and testing.
Black Series maintains competition DNA on the road
At the top of the Mercedes-AMG range, the Black Series models represent the ultimate expression of performance, a tradition that began in 2006.
The origins of this philosophy date back to the founding of AMG in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, with the aim of creating vehicles based on Mercedes models capable of meeting the demands of professional motorsport.
One of the milestones in this journey was the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG, equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 360 hp, which served as the official Safety Car for Formula 1®. Competition-developed versions served as the conceptual basis for the first Black Series model, launched in 2006.
A new stage for AMG performance
The CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT now represents the continuity of that heritage, linking decades of development to the future of the brand. The presentation of the new GT3 and Black Series consolidates this vision, combining technological innovation, competition experience, and practical application in road vehicles.
With these two models, Mercedes-AMG aims not only to continue its legacy but also to redefine the limits of automotive performance, both on and off the track.
