BRUNO FAMIN BOWS OUT: A NEW ERA BEGINS FOR ALPINE F1 TEAM!

In a shocking turn of events, Bruno Famin, the former boss of the Alpine F1 team, has officially parted ways with the organization after a remarkable four-year tenure that saw him navigate tumultuous waters in the high-octane world of motorsport! The departure was confirmed by Alpine, marking the end of a significant chapter for a man who has been pivotal in shaping the team’s direction.

Famin’s journey with Alpine began in early 2022, when he took the reins of the Renault engine program, showcasing his extensive experience as a former technical director and director of Peugeot Sport. His prowess was quickly recognized, and he was elevated to the role of Executive Director of Alpine Racing, where he spearheaded the development of the highly coveted Renault power unit at the iconic Viry-Chatillon facility.

Midway through 2023, Famin ascended to the role of Vice President of Alpine Motorsports, overseeing the entire breadth of Alpine’s motorsport endeavors, including Formula 1, World Endurance, and the esteemed Alpine Academy. During this turbulent period, he was thrust into leadership of the F1 team after the departure of team boss Otmar Szafnauer, under the watch of then-CEO Laurent Rossi. Famin’s leadership came at a critical juncture, as the team grappled with internal strife and external pressures.

However, after a year of driving the team through challenging circumstances, Famin has decided to step aside, making way for Oli Oakes to take over the F1 reins in mid-2024. But Famin's legacy doesn't end there—he was tasked with transitioning Viry-Chatillon into Hypertech Alpine, a futuristic hub for cutting-edge technology development, while simultaneously maintaining a hands-on role with Alpine’s World Endurance Championship team, collaborating closely with team principal Philippe Sinault.

As the team gears up for its anticipated exit from the championship later this year, the news of Famin’s departure comes as he prepares for new personal ventures. “I chose to step away to pursue new personal projects,” a spokesperson revealed, hinting at Famin’s desire for fresh challenges beyond the racing circuit.

In a heartfelt farewell, Axel Plasse, who recently joined Alpine as Vice President of Hypertech Alpine, expressed gratitude for Famin’s contributions. “We would like to thank Bruno Famin for the work he has done and for the commitment he brought to the Alpine endurance programme,” he stated, acknowledging Famin’s crucial role in securing three podium finishes and a remarkable victory at Fuji.

As the motorsport world watches closely, the departure of Famin opens the door for new leadership and innovation within Alpine. What lies ahead for this iconic brand? With the 2026 season on the horizon, fans and analysts alike are left wondering if this pivotal change will propel Alpine to new heights or lead to further challenges in their quest for motorsport supremacy. Buckle up, because the race for dominance in the world of F1 is just getting started!
